Activate or change a Physical SIM Card

Change my Physical SIM using the Fido My Account app

  1. Sign in to your Fido My Account app.
  2. From the Phone tab, select Change SIM.
  3. Click on the phone number that you wish to switch to eSIM. We’ll send a verification code to this number.
  4. Enter the verification code you received and select Confirm code.
  5. Select Physical SIM or eSIM Voucher.
  6. Enter the 20-digit number from your new physical SIM card. Select Continue.
  7. Under Review, select Submit. A message confirming that you’d like to continue will appear.
  8. Select Submit again then restart your device to change to the new SIM.

Change my Physical SIM using Fido.ca

  1. Sign in to your Fido My Account.
  2. Select Change SIM. We’ll send a verification code to the number that you’ve selected.
  3. Enter the verification code you received on your device, then select Continue.
  4. Under Enter your new SIM card details, select Physical SIM.
  5. Enter the 20-digit SIM number of your new SIM card then select Save and Continue.
  6. Review the details then select Proceed to confirmation.
  7. Restart your device then select Done to activate your SIM.

When you activate a new line, your SIM card is ready. Please insert it into your device to get connected.

If you’re bringing your number from another service provider, you’ll need to take a few more steps to get set up. Learn how to transfer your existing number to Fido.

The ICCID is the identification number of your SIM card. It’s a unique 20-digit number printed on your SIM card that starts with 89302.

You can also find your SIM card number in your device settings:

iOS:

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Select About.
  4. Scroll down until you see the ICCID number.

Android:

It’s best to turn off your phone and take the SIM card out. You’ll see the SIM card number on the card itself as most Android devices don’t have a way to find the SIM card number using the phone’s settings.

Setting up an eSIM Card on your Device

What is an eSIM Card?

An eSIM is a digital SIM that lets you activate a cellular plan without having to use a physical SIM card. For devices that support Dual Sim, an eSIM is leveraged to allow two lines or more on one device. To activate certain eSIM devices at Fido, you’re required to scan a QR code to complete device activation.

New Line

Step 1: Visit a Fido store or give us a call to activate a new line and request an eSIM Card.

Step 2: If you activated over the phone, once you receive your eSIM card in the mail, follow the on device setup instructions below to complete the setup.

Hardware Upgrade

If you would like to activate an eSIM as part of a Hardware upgrade, please visit your nearest Fido location.

Existing Line (Switching to an eSIM)

Step 1: Purchase a new eSIM card from a Fido Store or by contacting us.

Step 2: If you called to purchase an eSIM, once your eSIM arrives, you will need to change your SIM card number on MyAccount. Visit www.fido.ca/simcard and follow the instructions under “How to Update your SIM card” to get your sim card number changed.

Step 3: Follow the on device setup instructions below to complete the setup.

You can purchase an eSIM card your online portal for Fido services. eSIM cards do not require shipping, so they are easy and quick to order. Give us a call.

Only certain devices support eSIM activations. Please check your device specifications to check if it is eSIM capable. For devices that are eSIM capable you can activate an eSIM on any in market Fido plan.

How do I check if my device is eSIM compatible?

Enter *#06# on your keypad to see a list of your device information. If you see EID in the list, then your device is eSIM compatible.

Follow these steps if you lose your eSIM activated device:

  1. Sign in to your My Account
  2. Select the phone number of the lost device
  3. Scroll to My Device
  4. Select Lost or stolen device and follow the steps.
  5. After completing the steps above, you can visit a Fido store to buy a new SIM card and explore your options for a new device.

In order to switch devices with an eSIM, you will need to purchase a new eSIM or physical SIM card by either visiting a store or giving us a call. If you called to purchase, once you obtain your new eSIM/SIM card in the mail, you will need to follow the steps in the “How do I activate my eSIM Device?” section under “Existing Line”.

Unlocked eSIM-only iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro models can be activated and used on the Fido network.

What is Dual SIM?

Dual SIM offers the convenience of having two or more phone numbers on a single device. You can have separate personal and business numbers, or add a second line when travelling internationally.

The phone numbers can be on the same account, on different accounts, or from different carriers.
